Since its founding in 1979, Hammond and Shinners, P.C. has represented unions in labor law matters. The firm represents both public and private sector unions in a wide array of industries, including construction, transportation, utility, and service. The firm has extensive experience in all aspects of labor law including negotiation, arbitration, National Labor Relations Board representation, and litigation.
Hammond and Shinners, P.C. has represented Taft-Hartley employee benefit funds since the firm’s formation in 1979. The firm presently represents over fifty employee benefit funds including pension, health and welfare, vacation and apprenticeship funds covering a wide range of industries in Missouri and Illinois. The firm has extensive experience in all aspects of representing employee benefit funds including ERISA compliance, tax qualification, collection of contributions, fiduciary responsibility, drafting plans and summary plan descriptions, and litigation.
Our firm has three attorneys, Richard Shinners, Bob Mandava, and Melissa McLaughlin, who actively handle all aspects of probate practice, including the decedent’s estates and guardianship estates. We also represent clients in estate planning matters, a common goal of which is to avoid the need for probate upon death.
Hammond and Shinners, P.C. has three lawyers who specialize in representing injured workers in Missouri and Illinois workers’ compensation cases. Joe Larrew, Ann Dalton, and Bob Mandava are active members of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA), the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL), and the Workers Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG). They have and continue to offer their expertise to numerous legal associations and union groups, including the St. Louis County Bar Association, BAMSL, the Missouri Bar Association, United Food and Commercial Workers, District 9 Machinists, Operating Engineers, Teamsters Joint Council and Teamster Locals 600 and 618. With a combined experience of almost 50 years, our lawyers have tried hundreds of cases and recovered benefits for injured workers against such companies as Airborne Express, AmerenUE, American Airlines, Anheuser Busch, Chrysler, Coca-Cola, Dierberg’s, Laclede Gas/Spire, McDonald Douglas/Boeing, Roadway Express, Schnucks, Shop ‘N Save, USF Holland, Yellow Freight and hundreds of other employers. Successful claims have been made against workers’ compensation insurance companies including AETNA, AIG, Amerisure, CIGNA, CNA, Fireman’s Fund, Liberty Mutual, Missouri Employers’ Mutual, Travelers, and many others. Our workers’ compensation clients are not required to pay a retainer nor are they asked to advance the costs of litigation except in the most unusual circumstances.
